Rest in peace Afrika Bambaataa. Your impact on hip-hop, The Bronx, and the Zulu Nation will never be forgotten. The music, the message, and the unity you inspired continues to live on.

This tribute also honors my wife, Barbara Smithwick-Howell “Baby Debbo,” a Zulu Queen for life, representing Bronx River and the culture from the beginning. The memories, the roots, and the movement remain strong.

As it says in 1 Corinthians 13:2-3, without love we are nothing — and the love for the culture, the people, and the legacy lives forever.
