As the school year comes to a close, we want our community to know that the Ritenour Co-Care Food Pantry will remain OPEN all summer long.

While the Ritenour School District begins summer break this week, the pantry operates independently from the district and will continue serving families throughout the summer months.

We know summer can be a challenging time for many households, especially when children are home from school and access to school meals is limited. Our team of dedicated staff and volunteers is here to help ensure families in our community continue to have access to food and essential items during this time.

If you or someone you know needs assistance this summer, please do not hesitate to reach out or stop by. And as always, thank you to everyone who continues to support our mission through donations, volunteering, and kindness. Your support makes all the difference.

In observance of Memorial Day, the Ritenour Co-Care Food Pantry will be closed today as we take time to honor and remember the brave men and women who made the ultimate sacrifice while serving our country.

We are deeply grateful for their courage, service, and dedication.

Yesterday was a day we won’t forget at the Ritenour Co-Care Food Pantry.

We were incredibly honored to receive a $105,000 Subaru Share the Love® donation from Sunset Hills Subaru. Seeing that number on the check was emotional for so many of us because we know exactly what it means for the families who walk through our doors every month needing help.

What made the day even more special was having our volunteers there to celebrate with us. Sunset Hills Subaru treated everyone to a catered lunch, and their employees came out to personally thank and cheer on the volunteers who spend countless hours helping stock shelves, sort donations, assist clients, and keep the pantry running week after week.

Moments like this remind us that what we do is truly a community effort.

To Sunset Hills Subaru, their customers, employees, and every single person who chose to support the pantry during the Share the Love Event — thank you. Your generosity is going to help feed families, support children, help seniors, and provide dignity to people going through difficult times.

Today, we are incredibly grateful to recognize the generosity and kindness of The Gund Company for helping us create something truly special for the families we serve at Ritenour Co-Care Food Pantry.

On May 1st, The Gund Company dedicated a brand new Little Library at our pantry, giving clients access to free books they can take home, enjoy, and share with their families. To celebrate the dedication, their team also set up a table in our entryway to give away children’s books to the families visiting the pantry that day.

What makes this gift even more meaningful is their commitment to continue keeping the Little Library stocked with books for our community. Access to books opens doors to imagination, learning, comfort, and connection—and for many children, it can help create a lifelong love of reading.

This thoughtful act reminds us that caring for a community goes beyond food alone. It’s about nourishing hearts, minds, and futures.

Because of your incredible generosity during Give STL Day, the Ritenour Co-Care Food Pantry raised over $8,000 to help families facing food insecurity in our community. That represents an amazing 199% increase over last year’s donations — a testament to the compassion and generosity of supporters like you.

Every donation, every share, every encouraging word made a difference. Your support helps us continue providing nutritious food, dignity, and hope to neighbors who need it most during difficult times.

The outpouring of kindness we witnessed this week means more than words can express to our staff, volunteers, and the families we serve every single day. In a world that can sometimes feel uncertain, you reminded us that our community is filled with compassion, empathy, and people willing to step up for one another.

Recently, after we had already closed for the day, a man was outside going through our trash. He wasn’t looking for anything unusual...just something, anything, to take home to his family. Our team saw him.
