When Dr. Gordon S. Voorhees retired from his position as a WWII Army Physician, he returned home to Leavenworth, Kansas. He became the first board-certified physician in the area and took his grandson, who showed interest in the medical field, to house calls.

Back then, healthcare was personal, and insurance wasn't so confusing.

That grandson, David Voorhees, went on to found True Captive Insurance with one mission: to serve customers with the same amount of care he witnessed as a child. He took inspiration from both his grandfather and his father, who was an elite vascular thoracic surgeon.
