Secretary Mike Naig announced today that the sign-up is now open for the Iowa Department of Agriculture and Land Stewardship’s annual Crop Insurance Discount Program. The innovative program offers farmers a $5 per acre premium reduction for fall-planted cover crops.

If you planted cover crops, you can receive a $5 per acre discount on spring crop insurance premiums. Farmers and landowners can learn more and apply for the crop insurance discount program by January 14th: bit.ly/CropInsuranceDiscountProgram.

Cover crops help improve soil health, prevent soil erosion, lock in nutrients, offer w**d control and so much more. Talk to your local USDA service center to learn about other cost share funding available to support the implementation of conservation practices.
