🚨 Medicare Update: GLP-1 Coverage Changes

There’s a LOT of confusion around medications like Ozempic and Wegovy under Medicare—so here’s the real update:

👉 Medicare just launched a GLP-1 “Bridge” program
👉 It’s a test program giving early access for weight loss medications
👉 It leads into a bigger rollout in 2027 called the BALANCE Model

⚠️ Important: Coverage in the future will depend on the Part D plan you choose.

This is going to make plan selection even more important.

Don’t be tricked into this newest scam! If you are ever unsure, hang up and call the company back directly to ask if it is legitimate.

🚨NEW SCAM ALERT 🚨

A new text message scam is going around Illinois and other states. It includes a photo of what appears to be an official notice for a traffic violation hearing. The document may look legit at first glance, even listing Illinois statutes, but there are some clear red flags:

🔴 No name listed for the alleged violator
🔴 “Judge” and “Clerk of the Court” both listed as John Smith
🔴 Instructions to scan a QR code or follow a link

Let’s be clear: Law enforcement and the courts will NOT send text messages asking you to pay citations or scan a QR code.

If you receive a message like this:
❌ Do NOT scan the QR code (we blurred it out because we know someone would try it)
❌ Do NOT click any links
❌ Do NOT provide personal or payment information

Simply delete the message.

If you’re unsure whether something is legitimate, contact your local police department or the court directly using verified contact information.

And seriously… “Judge John Smith”…? That’s your first clue 👀 (No offense to any real Judge John Smiths out there, we’re sure you’re doing great work!)

How does Tax Time Easy Enrollment work in Illinois?

If you check the Health Insurance checkbox on your Illinois tax return, you may receive a notice explaining whether you qualify for coverage through Get Covered Illinois.

Once you receive that notice, you’ll need to create your Get Covered Illinois account and complete your application.

Tax Season Tip for Illinois Residents 👇
If you checked the Health Insurance checkbox on your Illinois tax return (IL-1040 Line 42) you may qualify for a Tax Time Special Enrollment Period through Get Covered Illinois.
This allows uninsured Illinois residents to enroll in coverage outside the normal Open Enrollment period.
After filing your taxes, you may receive a letter explaining if you qualify for free or low-cost health insurance.
Once you receive that notice, you’ll need to create your Get Covered Illinois account and complete your application.
