It’s Fun Fact Tuesday at Leonard Insurance Agency!

Did you know that Atlanta Georgia is closer to Canada than Miami Florida?

It may sound surprising, but Atlanta is closer to Canada than to Miami. As the crow flies, downtown Atlanta is about 555 miles from the Canadian border and about 605 miles from Miami.

This odd fact comes down to geography: the U.S.-Canada border dips far south in the Great Lakes region, while Florida extends deep south on its peninsula, putting Miami near the state’s tip.

Still, driving to Canada isn’t faster. Atlanta to Windsor, Ontario, is about 701 miles and roughly 12 hours by car, while Atlanta to Miami is about 660 miles and takes around 10 to 11 hours.
