Today’s cleanup: Commission Clearing for a real estate broker.

Deposits were coming in. Agents were getting paid.
But the clearing account wasn’t zeroing out properly.

When a commission clearing account doesn’t clear, it usually means:
• A split was recorded incorrectly
• A payout was missed
• Income was coded wrong

Clearing accounts are control tools — not just extra accounts.

When managed correctly, they wash to zero and keep broker income reporting clean.

If yours hasn’t been reviewed lately, it may be time.

Paper receipts taking over your space?

Good news: you don’t need to keep them if you have clear digital copies.

Best practice 👉 keep 2–3 digital backups in separate places (accounting software, cloud storage, or a physical drive in another location).

Less paper. More peace of mind.
