June is Dairy month!
So this month, meet our member spotlight Caleb and Leah Stam!
Caleb and Leah Stam run a dairy operation just outside of Oskaloosa. Caleb and Leah both grew up with a background in agriculture, but it was a journey to get to where they are now. Their home farm was established in 1988 and they are proud to now be raising their 4 children with the values only a farm can establish.
Caleb and Leah are both passionate about agriculture education. They are heavily involved in local classrooms, field trips and the Mahaska County Ag in the classroom program. In addition, they also host educational groups statewide and establish relationships in dairy programs internationally.
They value Farm Bureau because they view it as a bridge between the farming and non-farming communities. They recognize the importance of educating the general population and showing how much farmers truly care about their animals. Farm Bureau does this through Ag in the Classroom opportunities and events like the Sweet Corn Serenade and community education.
Outside of Farm Bureau, Leah is a teacher at the Christian school and Caleb drives a bus. They are involved in their church, host dairy events and help organize classroom and community field trips.
From managing fields and milking robots to showing families how it’s done, Stam Dairy shows the true character of hard-working Farm Bureau members. Thank you, Stam Family!
