June is Dairy month!
So this month, meet our member spotlight Caleb and Leah Stam!
Caleb and Leah Stam run a dairy operation just outside of Oskaloosa. Caleb and Leah both grew up with a background in agriculture, but it was a journey to get to where they are now. Their home farm was established in 1988 and they are proud to now be raising their 4 children with the values only a farm can establish.
Caleb and Leah are both passionate about agriculture education. They are heavily involved in local classrooms, field trips and the Mahaska County Ag in the classroom program. In addition, they also host educational groups statewide and establish relationships in dairy programs internationally.
They value Farm Bureau because they view it as a bridge between the farming and non-farming communities. They recognize the importance of educating the general population and showing how much farmers truly care about their animals. Farm Bureau does this through Ag in the Classroom opportunities and events like the Sweet Corn Serenade and community education.
Outside of Farm Bureau, Leah is a teacher at the Christian school and Caleb drives a bus. They are involved in their church, host dairy events and help organize classroom and community field trips.
From managing fields and milking robots to showing families how it’s done, Stam Dairy shows the true character of hard-working Farm Bureau members. Thank you, Stam Family!

*~Member spotlight~*
Meet Mike and Mary Beth Jackson! Mike and Mary Beth both come from agricultural backgrounds. Mike as a 6th generation farmer with a family background in corn, soy and swine.
Mary Beth as a 4th generation with a family background in dairy, swine and crops. They now live together on the Jackson home farm which was purchased in 1890!
The Jacksons are both very passionate about agricultural education to those of all ages. Mike is very involved with helping the local ag in the classroom coordinator and has spoken at farm education conferences.
Within Farm Bureau together they previously served on the lowa Young Farmer Advisory Committee and Mike sat on the the State Farm Bureau Board as the Young Farmer Chair. Now they both serve as members of your Mahaska County Farm Bureau Board. They assist in member outreach, event and community coordination. They value the networking opportunities that Farm Bureau provides both locally and across the county. Getting to learn about global operations and seeing variety from state to state is a great opportunity.
Outside of Farm Bureau they are heavily involved in their church. They assist in a variety of youth programming through school, 4H, Gems and Cadets. Mike is also involved in Soil and Water district.
Say thank you to Mike Jackson and Mary Beth Jackson for all of their hard work. Interested in being a part of the fun? Reach out to ask about joining the board!

Farmers and Fareway feeding Neighbors! Fareway had their own team this morning at the Breakfast Battle. They did have the fastest time, but due to having excessive knowledge of their store, they were not allowed to keep the trophy. Thank you to Fareway for their food donation to feed our neighbors in Mahaska County!

Farmers and Friends feeding Neighbors! Hy-Vee was the setting for the Breakfast Battle this morning. Our competitors were Farm Credit who came in second by a mere 10 seconds, Outer Limits Truck Repair who won the battle, and The McNaul Farm Bureau Agency who received the We Tried award. The food shopped today will feed 3 families of 4 along with cash donations that will help the food banks in Mahaska County. Credit limits truck repair James McNaul, Farm Bureau Financial Services
