The Mid America CropLife Association (MACA) recognizes the essential role agriculture plays in our daily lives and proudly supports teachers, schools, and organizations committed to teaching agricultural concepts. The MACA Agriculture Academy Grant offers grants of up to $1,000 to teachers, schools, youth organizations, student groups, and community organizations. Funds can be used to support any project that advances agricultural education. Clarke kindergarten students wrapped up their farm unit with a virtual farm tour to the Pontier Farm.

Thank you Chad Pontier for showing students how you keep your cattle clean and comfortable in all types of weather, what foods they eat and what can be done when they aren’t feeling well.

Thank you Clarke Kindergarten for allowing me to come in and talk with students about the grain, wheat.

Classes recently read the story The Little Red Hen for their farm unit. Students explored real wheat stems and saw how the wheat is ground into flour using a hand grinder.

We hope students remember that thanks to a wheat farmer, this allows them to enjoy delicious foods like bread, pizza crust, donuts and much more!
