Your Medicare plan can stay the same while the details inside it change. That’s exactly why I don’t recommend simply letting your coverage roll over without reviewing it first.
Medicare plans can change from year to year, including premiums, copays, prescription drug coverage, provider networks and other benefits. A plan that worked perfectly for you this year may still be a good fit for 2027, but it’s worth actually checking instead of assuming.
When I review someone’s Medicare coverage, I’m looking at the whole picture: the doctors and specialists you want to keep seeing, the prescriptions you actually take, what those medications may cost under the plan, your expected out-of-pocket expenses and whether there are other options that better fit the way you use your healthcare.
Medicare Open Enrollment runs October 15 through December 7, and this is the time when people with Medicare can make changes to their health and prescription drug coverage for 2027.
