In preparation of Hurricane Irma our office will be closing at 1:00pm today and anticipates to re-open on Tuesday, 9/12. In the event we are not able to make it into the office, both Liz and myself hope to have access to our email/voicemail and should be able to assist you. We recommend having a copy of your policy available and taking inventory of the home as it is right now. This can easily be done by taking a video with your smartphone. If you have damage, you need to report a claim immediately to your insurance carrier. Once the claim has been reported, be sure to take the following steps to protect your home from any further damage.
1. Take pictures of all damages.
2. Take reasonable emergency measures to protect from further damage such as boarding up a broken window or tarping the roof and save all receipts for any materials purchased.
3. DO NOT make any permanent repairs or dispose of any damaged items until an adjustor has been able to assess the damages.
4. Make a list of personal property that has been damaged.
5. Last but not least, if the residence is unlivable and you need to vacate, keep all of your receipts from temporary lodging and other expenses.

Do not sign any document that suggests you “transfer and assign insurance rights or benefits to the contactor.” Please see attached flier regarding the “Assignment of Benefits” and contact your adjustor for a preferred vendors list.***
