Why is it important to purchase a personal policy?

Employer life insurance may not be portable, meaning when you leave employment you cannot take it with you. If it is portable, there are a few things to keep in mind.

The policy only covers you for a fixed term. For example, if your company policy had a period of 30 years and you worked there for 20, it will only cover you for another ten years.

There’s often an age restriction on portability. As you age and exceed this limit, you might not be able to renew the policy.

Premiums for porting your life insurance will increase as you get older.

A little story about my personal experience with employer life insurance. I paid for life insurance for 25 years at the same employer. My policy was portable. The problem became the cost... for me to begin personal payments on that same policy I carried for years was going to cost a lot more. At age 53 the $250,000 policy was going to cost a few hundred dollars per month.

According to the 2022 CDC stats accidents were the #3 cause of death in Florida with 17,115 deaths.

In the Central Florida area, we have had several auto accident fatalities that were heartbreaking. Teenagers and young adults who lost their lives way too soon and families burdened with the financial expense of hospital bills and final expenses.

Accidents can be slip and falls as well. It is a product worth considering.

An 18-year-old male can get $250,000 in coverage for approximately $33 per month. Dependents under the age of 18 may be covered under a parent's life policy with a rider.

As your independent insurance agent, I look for the best options to ensure your family is protected. I don't just sell you something and leave you. I'm your agent for life and will do periodic policy reviews and just keep in touch. Some clients become extended family!
