🇺🇸 1870 Two Cent Piece — CAC AU50 BN

The Two Cent Piece holds a special place in U.S. coinage history — it was the very first American coin to carry the motto "In God We Trust," starting in 1864. By 1870, though, the denomination was already fading in popularity, and mintages had dropped sharply from the millions struck in its early years to under a million — making later dates like this one noticeably scarcer than the more common 1864-1865 issues.

This example grades AU50 with a natural Brown (BN) surface, and carries a CAC sticker — confirming that respected third-party experts agree the coin is solid, high-end for the grade, not just technically passing.

A great pickup for anyone chasing "first" coins in U.S. history, or building a short-lived-denomination type set. 🪙

Struck to honor the 50th anniversary of the first Moon landing, this coin is only the second curved coin the U.S. Mint has ever produced. The obverse shows the indented bootprint left by Neil Armstrong on the lunar surface, framed by the names Mercury, Gemini, and Apollo separated by phases of the moon. The reverse recreates one of the most iconic images in history — Buzz Aldrin reflected in the curved visor of Armstrong's helmet, with the lunar module beside him.

Graded a flawless NGC MS70 with the First Releases designation, and housed in NGC's special "Moon Core" holder — a display insert styled after the Moon's cratered surface — paired with an Apollo 11 mission patch.

1865 marks the very first year of the Three Cent Nickel, introduced to replace the smaller, hard-to-handle Three Cent Silver piece. Designed by James B. Longacre — the same mind behind the Indian Head Cent — it features a classic Liberty head on the obverse and a bold Roman numeral III on the reverse.

This first-year example grades a strong NGC AU58, just a hair's breadth from full Mint State, with plenty of original detail still intact from a coin that saw only light circulation.
