Does this graph surprise you?

The notable drop during the pandemic is countered with a drastic increase from 2021 - 2022.

The most concerning part is what is still to come.

With the fear of recession around the corner, we might continue to see this trend throughout 2023.

In the wake of numerous layoffs many are losing health coverage - further pushing this direction towards delay of care.

That coupled with high deductible marketplace plans creates an environment where care is avoided until absolutely necessary.

However, the need for care simply won't "go away". And the overall costs of care are not trending downward either.

This is a troubling combination of events that is going to put additional stress on an already shaky healthcare structure.

This man was forced to give his dog to the Humane Society due to undergoing lengthy hospital stay.

This nurse found out and immediately went to the shelter and adopted his dog.

She brings him to visit daily and will return him as soon as the man is released!❤️

LAYOFFS SUCK.

I know this because it's happened to me.

There's never a good time, but there are certainly worst times than others. The holiday season being one of them.

Not only do you lose your salary but also all of your other benefits as well.

You're probably given the "We have a COBRA health insurance option for you and your family" spiel. If you're lucky the employer covers it for some time, but that isn't always the case.

Then you go to sign up for COBRA and its 5-10x more expensive than what you were previously paying.

How is this the best option????

Well, it's not.

PLEASE don't think that COBRA is your only health insurance option if you've been laid off. I know how tough it can be and the last thing you need is to be paying an outrageous price for coverage.
