Happy 4th of July Weekend from the Orange County Sheriff’s Office!

A few reminders before the hot dogs disappear and Uncle Bob starts making questionable decisions:

• The really cool fireworks? Yep… they’re probably illegal in Virginia.
• “Hold my beer” has never once ended with, “That was a great idea.”
• If you’re drinking, don’t drive. Call a friend, a family member, or that one person who somehow never drinks at cookouts.
• The speed limit is still the speed limit, even if you’re late to the fireworks.
• Just because your buddy says, “Nobody will know,” doesn’t mean we’re going to agree.

We’ll be out all weekend doing our part to keep Orange County safe. We’d much rather wave at you from a patrol car than meet you while you’re explaining why you thought launching fireworks from the bed of your pickup was a solid plan.

Have a safe, happy, and memorable Independence Day. Celebrate responsibly, enjoy time with family and friends, and help us keep the jail free of red, white, and blue themed mugshots.

Felony Eluding and DUI Arrest Following Pursuit

On the night of June 24, 2026, Sergeant Fake was conducting traffic enforcement in the area of Route 20 and Flat Run Road when he observed a black Dodge Ram traveling 76 mph in a posted 55 mph zone.

Sergeant Fake attempted to initiate a traffic stop; however, the driver failed to stop and began fleeing southbound on Route 20. During the pursuit, the vehicle repeatedly crossed the centerline, reached speeds of approximately 115 mph, and passed other vehicles in a no-passing zone, nearly causing a head-on collision.

Deputy Wallace successfully deployed tire deflation devices near Lafayette Drive, striking the vehicle's front driver's side tire. Despite the damaged tire, the driver continued southbound before eventually stopping on Village Road near the Route 20/Route 522 intersection.

The driver, identified as Angel Alfonso Morales Guardado, 48, of Sterling, Va. was taken into custody without further incident by Sergeant Fake, Deputy Wallace, and Deputy Benner.

During the investigation, deputies observed several signs of intoxication, including bloodshot eyes, the odor of alcoholic beverages, and unsteady balance. Guardado admitted to consuming alcoholic beverages prior to driving and later refused to provide a breath sample after his arrest.

A records check revealed Guardado's driving privileges had been revoked for DUI and that he had multiple prior DUI convictions.

The vehicle, which was transporting more than 150 chickens in the bed, was impounded in accordance with Virginia law. Orange County Animal Control responded to assist with the care of the animals.

Guardado was charged with:
• Felony Eluding
• Felony Driving Under the Influence – 3rd Offense
• Driving While DUI Revoked
• Reckless Driving
• Unreasonable Refusal of a Breath Test

He was transported to the Central Virginia Regional Jail, where he was held without bond.

We commend Sergeant Fake, Deputy Wallace, Deputy Benner, and our Communications Division for their professionalism during this incident. We are also thankful that no innocent motorists were injured as a result of the suspect's reckless actions.

Remember, impaired driving puts everyone on the road at risk. If you choose to drink, please make a plan for a safe ride home.
