Not every tax deadline waits until April.

Some moves, like Roth conversions, certain investment sales, charitable gifts, and 401(k) deferrals, generally need to happen by December 31 to count for 2026.

Others, including IRA and HSA contributions, may have more time.

Not sure which of your year-end decisions are on the clock? Falcon’s team can help you sort them.

Need to take an RMD but don’t want to sell the investments you still believe in?

You may be able to take the distribution in cash or move shares in-kind to a taxable brokerage account, with the distribution still generally taxed based on its value.

The better fit depends on whether you need liquidity or want to stay invested.

By October, the numbers behind a Roth conversion are usually easier to evaluate.

You may have a clearer view of your full-year income, which can help show whether a conversion could push more income into a higher tax bracket.

The right amount, if any, depends on this year’s actual numbers.

Swipe through why Q4 often becomes an important planning window.

A charitable gift from your IRA can sometimes do double duty.

For eligible IRA owners age 70½ or older, a Qualified Charitable Distribution (QCD) can send funds directly to charity, generally keep that amount out of taxable income, and count toward a Required Minimum Distribution (RMD) when applicable.

That can make QCDs worth considering as part of a broader retirement and tax-planning strategy.

See how the strategy works in the infographic.

Think the annual gift limit is $19,000? For married couples, the picture can be different.

In 2026, each spouse can generally use a separate $19,000 annual exclusion for the same recipient, and gift-splitting may apply when only one spouse funds the gift.

Selling an investment at a loss doesn’t automatically mean you get the tax benefit.

If you buy the same or a substantially identical investment too soon, the wash-sale rule can disallow that loss.

The important part is understanding the 30-day window and how to stay invested without accidentally triggering the rule.

Watch the video for a simple breakdown.

A losing investment may still have some tax value.

Tax-loss harvesting can allow investment losses to offset capital gains, and in some cases, a portion of excess losses may also offset ordinary income or carry forward to future years.

The key is making sure the tax move still fits the investment plan.

Watch our video for a simple breakdown of how it works.
