If you’ve heard the word “escrow” but aren’t sure what it means, let’s break it down:

Escrow is a special account funded through a portion of your monthly mortgage payment. It’s used to cover property taxes and homeowners insurance.

Each year, the amount set aside is reassessed to ensure you’re on track. If there’s a shortage, you’ll make up the difference; if there’s an overage, you’ll get a refund.
