We’ve seen the posts. We hear the frustration. And honestly — we get it. No one wants to see prices of anything go up. But here’s the truth:
State Farm didn’t raise rates “just because.”
For years, they held off. Tried to absorb the rising costs of repairs, medical bills, and extreme weather events. But at some point, the numbers just don’t lie — State Farm has been operating at a loss, paying out more in claims than we were bringing in. That’s not sustainable.
The fact that State Farm Fire company paid out $1.26 for every $1 they collected in premiums last year, and $1.34 the year before, (which has been going on for about 15 years), should tell you that they have been well underrating people for well long enough.
***No one talks about our auto decreases but we will save that convo for another day. 🥸
Insurance is about shared risk, and right now the risks (and costs) are higher than ever:
Illinois had more tornados than any other state last year according to the National Weather Center.
They also had more hail damage claims than any other state besides Texas.
Times are changing.
Before assuming your agent or State Farm “just wants more money,” know that we’ve done everything we could to delay this. But we have to make sure we’re still here to pay out claims when YOU need us most.
Everyone is super quick to share a negative claim story, just like the news, humans are addicted to talking about the bad. But what about the GOOD? Take a look at our office’s Google reviews sometime, you will see a community of people who have had awesome experiences that obviously outweigh the bad. Don’t let one person’s negative experience automatically turn you away. That would be like someone getting the runs after eating at your favorite restaurant and you decide to never go there again. (Jokes, but we have to with the way we’ve been treated through all this lately 😭😂)
We care about our community. We’re not a nameless, faceless company — we live here too. And we’re always here to help walk you through options, discounts, bundling, and coverage reviews to help keep your costs manageable. 🤝
Let’s have conversations, not assumptions.
We’re in this with you. ❤️
