Turn‑the‑Key Terminology: PMI 🔑

PMI, or Private Mortgage Insurance, is a fee added to your mortgage when your down payment is under 20 percent. It helps you qualify for a home loan sooner by allowing a smaller upfront investment.

Once you build enough equity, PMI can often be removed, lowering your monthly payment.
