I’ve been working as an independent agent since December, and I just received my first Google review.

Moments like this reinforce why I made the switch. I take a lot of pride in helping people find the right coverage for their risk—not just the cheapest option, but the right protection for their situation.

One of the things I value most about being independent is the ability to work alongside a team that’s focused on delivering a true ‘wow’ experience for our clients.

The premium growth is exciting, but what matters most to me is the impact along the way—helping people feel confident and taken care of.

Here’s to the first of many. Looking forward to continuing to grow and develop.

Grateful I made the move from captive to independent.

Good afternoon!

Today I want to talk about Personal Articles Floaters.

A personal articles floater is a separate policy (or endorsement, depending on the carrier) that is often written on an agreed value basis. These policies are designed to provide expanded coverage for specific classes of items that may have limited protection under a standard property policy.

Common items covered by a personal articles floater include:
• Jewelry
• Tools
• Business-related property
• Antiques and collectibles
• Musical instruments and other high-value items

These policies exist to bridge coverage gaps created by special limits of liability or business-use restrictions. In many cases, a floater provides broader coverage, higher limits, and fewer restrictions than a standard homeowners or renters policy.

Another way to address coverage gaps is by endorsing the policy, which means changing or increasing certain limits directly on your existing policy. Whether an endorsement or a floater is the better option depends on the item, its value, and how it’s used.

As always, insurance is not one-size-fits-all. If you’re unsure whether your personal property is fully protected, feel free to reach out. I’m happy to review your policy and help identify any gaps before they become a problem.

Good afternoon!

In my last post, I talked about theft limits. Another common source of coverage gaps in property policies is special limits of liability.

Unlike theft limits—which only apply when the loss is caused by theft—special limits are hard caps on how much coverage is provided for certain classes of property, regardless of the cause of loss.

One common example is currency limits. Depending on the carrier, there is usually only a minimal amount of coverage for cash or currency-adjacent items (such as gold or bullion).

Another category that often causes confusion is business property. Items that are primarily used for business purposes are typically subject to much lower special limits. For example, if you’re a professional musician or mechanic, items like musical instruments or tools may fall under a business-use limit. Coverage for these items off-premises can be extremely low—sometimes as little as $250.

So what’s the best solution?
Like most things in insurance, it depends. In my next post, I’ll talk about a specific type of policy called a floater, which is often used to address these gaps.

If you’re concerned about coverage gaps or aren’t sure how your policy handles special limits, feel free to reach out. I’m always happy to review a policy and help you understand your options.

I’m name badge official now also! I hope everyone is doing well! We are almost out of the cold season.

Hello everyone,

I know I have a tendency to write longer posts. Going forward, I’ll be keeping things more concise—time is money, after all.

Today I want to talk about coverage gaps, specifically theft limits of liability, which are one of the most important considerations in property insurance.

A theft limit is a specific cap placed on certain classes of personal property. This limit determines the maximum amount that would be paid in the event of a theft claim. Common items subject to theft limits include jewelry, fi****ms, and other high-value property.

It’s important to note that these limits typically only apply to theft. In many cases, losses caused by other covered perils—such as fire—are not subject to the same sub-limits.

What can you do?
• Your agent may be able to endorse the policy to increase theft limits (depending on the carrier), or
• You can schedule specific items using a personal articles or floater policy, which provides broader and more tailored coverage.

Insurance coverage evolves over time, so it’s always a good idea to periodically review your policies with a trusted agent.

If you’d like a no-obligation quote or policy review, feel free to call at 913-214-8035, or message me directly here.

As always, thank you for reading. I’m part of a small business, and sharing this page with friends or family truly helps. My goal is to provide high-level insurance guidance within my community and beyond.
