If you are not working or your work has slowed down it's a great time to look for money you may have left behind - tax refunds, utility deposits, inheritances, etc. Go to google and type in 'unclaimed property and (state you live in and states you have lived in)' go through each site and search your name - you may be surprised that you have money sitting in the State Treasury fund waiting for you to find it! A lot of claims can be filed online with no paperwork and direct deposited into your bank account.

If you are having trouble making your mortgage payments please contact your servicer as soon as possible. Please don't assume that since the government has said forbearance is available for up to 12 months that your servicer will automatically apply that information to your account. If you can make your payments it is in your best long term interest to do so. We don't know what kind of impact the forbearance will have on your credit report and score. If you want to purchase or refinance in the future the forbearance possibly could affect your ability. Also, it isn't clear how that money will be paid back some speculate that 12 months of payments would be due at once (I don't think that is possible) most likely the loan will be reamortized after the forbearance - meaning the missed payments will be added to your loan balance then divided by the remaining term left so your payment will increase.
