Monday Education: What is a CDFI?

You may have heard the term CDFI, but what does it mean?

A Community Development Financial Institution (CDFI) is a specialized organization that helps provide access to capital, financial education, and business resources to individuals, entrepreneurs, and communities that may not have access to traditional financing.

CDFIs are mission-driven and focus on creating economic opportunity by helping:

Small business owners start and grow their businesses
Entrepreneurs access capital and funding opportunities
Communities build long-term economic strength
Individuals improve their financial knowledge and confidence

As a Native CDFI, the Cheyenne and Arapaho Community Development Corporation (CACDC) is dedicated to supporting Native entrepreneurs and helping create stronger businesses, stronger families, and stronger communities.

When opportunity meets support, great things happen.

The Cheyenne and Arapaho Community Development Corporation (CACDC) is proud to recognize one of our team! Riley Logsdon, Commercial Loan Officer, did an excellent job representing CACDC at the Oweesta Capital Access Convening in Bangor, Maine.

Riley participated as a panelist on two important discussions:

Expanding the Native CDFI Movement
O.M.Gen Z: Young Professionals in the Workplace

These conversations focused on strengthening Native communities through access to capital, expanding opportunities for Native entrepreneurs, and preparing the next generation of leaders to make a lasting impact.

Events like the Oweesta Capital Access Convening bring together Native CDFIs, community leaders, and industry professionals from across the country to share ideas, build partnerships, and advance economic development in Tribal communities.

We are proud to have Riley representing CACDC and contributing to the important conversations shaping the future of Native entrepreneurship and community development.

Their sacrifice, courage, and dedication will never be forgotten.

As we spend time with family and community this holiday weekend, we remember those who made our freedoms possible and the families who continue to carry their legacy.

From all of us at CACDC, we thank and honor our fallen heroes.

Wishing everyone a safe and meaningful Memorial Day.
