The 2026 CVSA International Roadcheck is officially underway from May 12–14, bringing 72 hours of intensive commercial vehicle inspections across the U.S., Canada, and Mexico.
Inspectors are operating at weigh stations, roadside checkpoints, and pop-up inspection sites, checking thousands of commercial vehicles during what’s considered the largest targeted truck inspection campaign in North America.
This year’s main enforcement focus:
Cargo Securement Inspectors are paying close attention to: • Straps
• Chains
• Tie-downs
• Dunnage
• Tarps
• Spare tires
• Brooms and loose equipment
• Forklifts carried on trailers
• Overall load containment and immobilization
Flatbeds and open-deck carriers can expect especially close scrutiny. Improperly secured cargo or equipment can quickly result in an out-of-service order.
Driver Focus: ELD Tampering Inspectors are also specifically reviewing: • Falsified log entries
• Manipulated driving time
• Missing required edit annotations
• Hours-of-service record discrepancies
Standard Level I inspections will still include the usual checks for: • Brakes
• Tires
• Lights
• Steering
• Suspension
• CDL and qualifications
• Medical certificate
• Seat belt compliance
• Drug & Alcohol Clearinghouse status
Last year, a significant number of vehicles were placed out of service during Roadcheck inspections, making preparation critical for drivers currently on the road.
If your truck is compliant and properly maintained, it’s another inspection week. If not, this is exactly when issues get found.
