I was working multiple jobs, making good money, and by the world's standards, I was successful. Then, my younger niece asked my sister a question that completely broke my heart.

I used to juggle multiple careers at the same time. I thought I was doing the right thing. But one day, my niece asked my sister: "Can Auntie get fired? Or can she quit?"

When my sister asked her why she wanted that, she replied: "Because we donā€™t really get to see her anymore."

Hearing that was like a stab straight to the heart. I took my role as an aunt very seriously, and I suddenly realized that the life I was building was keeping me away from the people I was doing it all for. I was winning financially, but losing everywhere else.

I knew that if I wanted something to change, I had to change something myself.

I was a financial officer in the Air Force, and everyone assumed I was a money expert. The truth? Finances completely overwhelmed me and I used to stick my head in the sand.

I actually got stuck in military finance just because of two accounting classes I took. I knew nothing about money management. I tried workshops, I tried classes, but everything was just too complicated and stressful.

But it made me realize something scary: if I was overwhelmed as a military finance officer, how bad was it for the average person?
