The Federal Reserve kept the federal funds rate steady today after the rate increase in September, leaving the federal funds rate at a range of 3.75-4.0%. The previous rate hike has already helped strengthen the economy and ease inflation pressures, but experts still believe we will see a rate hike by the end of the year.

So, what does that mean for mortgage rates? The Fed doesn’t set them directly, but it does shape the economic environment that in turn influences those rates.
