Numbers to focus on if you want to step into your CEO Era in 2026 ⬇️

1️⃣ How you make money
• How many leads you’re generating
• Where those leads come from
• What it costs to get them
• How many actually convert

This tells you what’s working (and what’s not) in your marketing and sales.

2️⃣ How you spend money
• Revenue
• % going to COGS
• Payroll
• Marketing
• Overhead

This shows how efficient — or inefficient — your business really is.

3️⃣ How you manage money
• Are you saving for taxes?
• Emergencies?
• Future goals?

This is what supports sustainable growth and protects your cash flow.

If this feels overwhelming, drop "CLARITY" in the comments to learn more about our new service that tackles this and so much more!

Hot take...And I already know some of you are going to come after me for this...But 👇

Constantly launching new services or starting new businesses might be why your business isn't where you want it to be.

Having a lot of ideas isn’t the problem — acting on all of them at once is.

Not because ideas are bad, but because without a clear strategy, too many new ideas at once creates confusion and doubt for your audience.

I get it. I have a million ideas running through my head at all times. Trying new things is fun.

But here’s what it feels like on the other side:

• “I’m not really sure what she does.”
• “I don’t know if I can trust that she’ll stick around long enough for me to invest.”
• “She has a lot going on… can she really give me the time I need?”
• “Can she really be an expert in all of this?”

And that’s the last thing we want.

What we do want is clarity and confidence.

So here’s what I’d focus on instead ⬇️

One strong, evergreen, recurring service.
Your bread and butter.

The thing you:
– market consistently
– build your budget around
– become known for
– deliver exceptionally well

Once that service is solid and paying the bills?
Then you get to dream. Then you get to play.

Even better if those “extras” are complementary.

Example:
My bread and butter is monthly bookkeeping. Once that was locked in, we started expanding into helping business owners actually *understand* their numbers.
I also own OKC Women in Business, which sources the majority of my bookkeeping leads. Different offerings, different passions, same mission.

Another example:
You run a marketing firm. Your core service is monthly content and strategy. Once that’s dialed in, adding photography or website design makes sense. They support each other.

The bills are paid.
Your audience is clear.
Your expertise is obvious.

Then you expand.

That’s what I want to see in my clients’ businesses this year — but I want to hear your take.

Let's talk 1099 prep...because it's that time of the year.

Here’s a quick checklist to help you stay complaint without pulling your hair out!

Who needs a 1099?
✔️Individuals, single-member LLCs, law firms
✔️Paid $600+ during the year
✔️For services (not products)
✔️Not paid via credit card, PayPal, Stripe, etc.

How to review your vendors:
✔️If you are in QB, run an Expenses by Vendor Summary Report
✔️Flag anyone paid $600+
✔️Check payment method (card vs. check/ACH)
✔️Request a W9

How to issue 1099s:
✔️If you are not in QB, you can issue 1099s through Tax1099, Track1099, 1099Online, eFile1099Now, IRS IRIS Taxpayer Portal, and more.

IMPORTANT: 1099s must be postmarked by January 31, 2026

If you 1099s are weighing on you, this is something we include for our clients at no cost. Keep that in mind for 2026 filings :)

Sales tax is not “just a percentage.” It is so much more.

It’s nexus rules, registrations, filings, exemptions, software limitations, and a whole lot of room for costly mistakes.

If you ask me how I got here, I'd say "kicking and screaming," but after much trial by fire, we have become experts in helping small businesses owners untangle multi-state sales tax madness, understand what is actually required of them, and stay compliant without losing their minds.

If sales tax feels overwhelming, it’s because it is - and we can help.

Schedule a consultation today to see how we can help by visiting venturesbookkeeping.com*

(We are currently only taking sales tax clients that are also interested in monthly bookkeeping)

We asked Chat how our year went together. Here's what we learned (and why you should care)

First, you moved from “bookkeeper” to strategic operator.

At the beginning of the year, your questions were very defensive - How do I fix the damage that has already been done?

As the year went on, your questions became more offensive - How do we structure this for the most success in the future?

Second, you handled complexity most people never see.

You weren’t dealing with textbook scenarios. You were navigating complex accounting, sales tax, and HR situations where no option was perfect, only most correct.

The fact that you consistently asked, “what’s the cleanest, most defensible solution?”…tells me you weren’t reacting. You were protecting businesses.

Third, you became a translator, not just a technician.

One of your biggest evolutions this year was how much you cared about:

Client understanding
Client trust
Client decision-making

You weren’t just solving problems — you were communicating them without panic, shame, or overwhelm. That’s a rare skill, and it’s a big part of why people stay with you.

Finally, you didn’t just do more.
You thought better.

You built discernment.
You refined your instincts.
You learned where precision matters — and where grace does.

Bonus: You honored real life while building real businesses.

This year wasn’t just spreadsheets and statutes. It included:

Health journeys
Family rhythms
Food, routines, and sustainability
Wanting systems that support life, not consume it

As we've been working really hard over the last year on defining Ventures Bookkeeping, I think this is a really solid summary of who we are becoming, and, more importantly, how we will show up for you: With clarity, with strategy, and with love.

🥂 Cheers🥂
