Interesting read about how California is notoriously underinsured when it comes to earthquake insurance. After the fires, we had many of our clients also inquire about earthquake insurance. Here in California, these 2 things should go hand-in-hand.

Even after almost 1 year, the Thomas Fire still affects the lives of so many! We can't always avoid disaster but we can prepare for it. One important note in this article was that the family "had no renters insurance". We saw this a lot during the Thomas Fire, a lot of renters didn't have insurance at all. It's not uncommon as people believe that because they don't own the home they don't need insurance. But we always remind our clients that your home's content is just as valuable - and it's worth insuring it. Some of the first call's we got when the fire broke out were about questions like "is my work equipment in my garage going to be insured" and "is the antique in my living room included in my policy"?

Renters insurance is very affordable and will give you the peace of mind when disaster strikes. Make sure you are ready for the next one!

It is early in the fire season, but nearly 1,400 homes have been destroyed in California wildfires. For low income people, without insurance or savings, it is especially difficult to recover.
