Oglesby lost a legend yesterday. Our thoughts and prayers go out to the Moore family!
With the blessing of his family and with the absolute most profound sadness, I am sharing the news that Ron passed away unexpectedly yesterday. For those who don’t know, Ron owned RBS from 95-2023, his dad owned it from 59-95, this is his second home, sometimes his first home I’m sure. He’s been a presence in our small town for decades. I am heartbroken, devastated, gutted, and I am here now feeling the absence of his presence, missing a piece to not only The Rootbeer Stand, but a piece of our community, and a piece to his beautiful family. I have been so fortunate to know Ron for 25 years and, still almost 3 years into me owning The Rootbeer Stand, he has been here 3 times a week helping me, covering for me, & supporting me. I never ever spent a day with him without him making me laugh, he was such a happy go lucky guy, who always had a dirty joke or a song he couldn’t stop singing for 3 days. He had hundreds of our locals work for him over the years and not one person could say something bad about him, he was an amazing boss and friend. Ron and his dad Henry created a legacy like no other and I could not be more proud or honored to carry it on. It will be a challenge to do it without him, but I know he would say, “you don’t need me anymore, you got this”, but I truthfully had no plans of letting him go until he was ready because he was a safety net for me more than I think he realized. Please keep his wife Lynn, daughter Megan, son Brandon, his 5 grandbabies, his mom Janet, his brothers and all of his family in your thoughts as they navigate life without him. We are open today & we will take a moment of silence and a cheers of rootbeer for all car show attendees on Saturday in his honor. I love you Ron, and I am forever grateful for you and all the time we’ve had over the years - rest in peace - I hope your golf game was amazing yesterday. 🧡🕊️🍻
