5 questions about your own insurance. Most people can't answer all of them. See how you do. 👇

1. What's your home's dwelling coverage and has it kept up with what it actually costs to rebuild today?

2. What's the daily limit on your Loss of Use coverage?
(The number that covers you if a fire, flood, or storm forces you out — especially right now when hotel rates are up because of the biggest sporting event)

3. What's your auto liability limit, especially after adding any new drivers?

4. Is your life insurance 7–10x your current income?

5. Do you have an umbrella policy that matches what you've built?

If any of those made you pause you're not alone.

Those are exactly the five things I check in every free coverage review.

15 minutes. No pitch. I do every one personally.

Last week's posts hit close to home for a lot of y'all. So I'm opening 8 free coverage review spots this week. Here's what we actually look at.

The Coach's Coverage Review: what it actually is.

15 minutes. I look at your policy. I tell you what I see.
No pitch. No quota. No pressure.

What I check on every homeowner's policy:

1. Is your home insured for what it actually costs to rebuild today?
2. What's your ALE daily limit and could it cover housing near you right now?
3. Are your liability limits keeping pace with what you've built?
4. Does your personal property coverage reflect what you own today?
5. Is your deductible actually manageable if something happens?

Last week alone I found:
- An ALE limit that would cover about one soccer-era hotel night
- A $140,000 dwelling coverage gap on a 2019 policy
- A family with 3x their original net worth still on original liability limits

None of them did anything wrong. Life just moved on without the policy following.

Comment REVIEW or DM me. 8 spots. This week. No catch.

After Thursday's post, a lot of y'all asked me: what exactly IS that coverage, and how do I check mine? Here's the plain-English breakdown.

It's called Additional Living Expense (ALE) or Loss of Use coverage.

It's in almost every homeowner's policy.
Almost nobody reads it until they need it.

What it covers when a covered loss forces you out of your home:
- Temporary housing
- Extra food costs
- Extra transportation
- Storage for your stuff

Here's what most people don't know:

It has a DAILY LIMIT - set when you last updated your policy.

In 2026 Texas, especially with the soccer games driving prices up across DFW and Houston, that limit might not cover a single night near where you work and your kids go to school.

How to check yours RIGHT NOW:

Find the first page of your homeowner's policy (the declarations page).
Look for the line that says, "Additional Living Expense," "Loss of Use," or "Coverage D."
That number is your daily limit.

If it's under $150–200/day and you haven't updated it recently - it's probably time to review.

Comment ALE below or DM me HOME and I'll tell you exactly where you stand with your specific policy. Free, fast, no pressure.

A Texas family had to leave their neighborhood during the biggest sporting event in 2026. Their insurance was active. Their invoices were paid. Here's what went wrong.

They had a covered loss and needed temporary housing while their home was repaired.

Their policy had it covered - or so they thought.

Their homeowner's insurance includes something called Additional Living Expense (ALE) coverage.
It pays for temporary housing when you can't be in your home due to a covered loss.

But here's the thing:

It has a DAILY LIMIT.
And that limit was set years ago. Never updated.

Normal times? Still too low but manageable.

But right now - the biggest sporting event is in Texas.

Hotels and short-term rentals near their jobs and their kids' schools?
Double. Sometimes triple normal prices.
Or simply not available.

Every option within reach of their life was priced beyond what the policy would cover.

So they had to go further out.
And further.

Until the only option was leaving their area entirely - away from work, activities, everything familiar.

Same insurance carrier. Invoices always paid.
Just a daily limit that nobody ever updated.

This is what "set it and forget it" insurance costs in the real world.

And right now - with the world watching games played in Texas and prices elevated across the Metroplex - it's more relevant than ever.

Been quiet for a few weeks. Back now and tomorrow I'm sharing a story that every Texas homeowner needs to hear.

I've been in the field.

Sitting with Texas families. Reviewing policies they hadn't looked at in years.

And over and over, I kept hearing the same thing:

"I just assumed it was keeping up."

Most of the time it wasn't.

Tomorrow I'm sharing a real story about a Texas family during the biggest sport event in years.

They had insurance.
They paid every invoice.
And they still had to pack up and leave their neighborhood because one number in their policy was never updated.

It's a story that's happening right now, in Texas, in 2026.

Stay close. It drops tomorrow morning.

Quiz time - Can you answer these 4 questions about your own insurance? Most people can't. No shame - let's find out.

1. What is your auto liability limit?

2. Do you have uninsured motorist coverage?
(It's optional and must be elected separately)

3. What's the replacement cost on your home insurance?
(Different from value)

4. Is your life insurance 7–10x your annual income?

If you're unsure on any of these - you're not alone. Most people can't answer all four.

And those gaps? That's where claims do not go through.

DM me QUIZ and I'll send you a coverage checklist and personally review your answers. No pitch. Just answers.

Hey Texas realtors and lenders - I'd love to be the person your buyers call BEFORE the first claim. Here's why that matters.

When your buyer closes, they often buy the cheapest policy the lender will accept.

Problem: that policy is based on the loan amount - not what it costs to actually rebuild the house in today's DFW market.

In most cases I review? They're underinsured by six figures.

I offer free replacement cost reviews for new homeowners.
No cost to you, no cost to them, no referral arrangement needed.

Just protection for people you worked hard to help get into that home.

The hardest call I ever made was to a widow. Her husband had life insurance. It just wasn't the right amount anymore. Here's what I mean.

He bought his policy when he was 28. Single, renting, no responsibilities.

By the time he passed, they had a $380,000 mortgage and two kids in school.

The $150,000 policy covered about 14 months of expenses.

Then she was on her own.

He didn't do anything wrong. He just never updated the policy as his life grew.

If your family has changed - new mortgage, new baby, new income - your life insurance needs to change with it.

DM me the word LIFE and I'll help you figure out if your coverage matches your life right now. Free, private, no pressure.
