Purple Heart Day reminds us why care matters. Behind every Purple Heart is a person, a family, and a story of sacrifice that deserves our respect.

Behind every Purple Heart is a story of sacrifice, resilience, and service to our country. To every recipient and every family who has walked this road: thank you.

When we celebrate the Coast Guard's birthday, we're celebrating a sister Sea Service that serves alongside the Navy and Marine Corps with courage, readiness, and heart.

That connection matters to us. Coast Guard members and their families understand service, sacrifice, long days, missed milestones, and the strength it takes to keep showing up for others.

To every Coast Guard member, past and present, and to the families who stand beside them: Happy Birthday and thank you for all you do.

August 1–7 is World Breastfeeding Week 🤍

This week, we celebrate the strength, dedication, and love that goes into every feeding journey, whatever that may look like for you and your baby. Breastfeeding can be incredibly rewarding, but it can also come with challenges, questions, and moments of uncertainty, and you don’t have to navigate it alone.

Most of our Visiting Nurses hold a Certified Lactation Counselor (CLC) credential or higher, bringing both clinical knowledge and compassionate, real-world support right to your home.

Your NMCRS Visiting Nurse would love to help with any breastfeeding or lactation questions or concerns you may have, whether you're just getting started, working through challenges, or looking for reassurance along the way.

You’ve got this, and we’ve got you. 💙

Today, on Korean War Veterans Armistice Day, we pause to honor the brave men and women who answered their nation’s call during the Korean War.

More than seven decades ago, they served in harsh conditions, far from home, demonstrating extraordinary courage, resilience, and sacrifice in defense of freedom. Many endured unimaginable hardships. Some never returned home.

At NMCRS, we are especially grateful for the Sailors, Marines, and families whose strength carried them through those challenging years. Their service helped shape the military community we are privileged to support today.

As we reflect on the signing of the armistice on July 27, 1953, we remember those who served, honor those who were lost, and express our deepest gratitude to the veterans who continue to carry the stories of the “Forgotten War.”

Please join us in honoring our Korean War veterans and their families today.

A car repair you didn’t see coming. A travel reimbursement that’s taking longer than expected. An unexpected trip home to be with a seriously ill loved one.

Military life can bring surprises, and sometimes those surprises come with financial stress. That’s why it helps to know where to turn before you need help.

This Military Consumer Month, take a few minutes to explore the resources available to you and your family. Having a plan and knowing there’s trusted support available, can make difficult moments feel a little less overwhelming.

We’re here for you. Every day we help Sailors, Marines and their families navigate life’s unexpected challenges with compassionate support, financial guidance, and practical assistance when it’s needed most.

Because peace of mind isn’t about having all the answers. It’s about knowing you don’t have to face life’s challenges alone. Learn more at nmcrs.org

One donation. Countless possibilities.

A child’s book can inspire a new reader. A kitchen item can help a family settle into a new home. A gently used uniform can help a single service member save big.

This National Give Something Away Day, your donated items can continue their journey by helping Sailors, Marines, and their families find affordable essentials that fuel the support they need along the way.

Because when we share what we have, we strengthen the community that serves us all.

Find an NMCRS Thrift Shop or Uniform Locker to donate to near you. https://www.nmcrs.org/our-services/thrift-shops

Military life comes with enough on your plate. The last thing you need is a scammer taking advantage of a busy day or moment of distraction.

This Military Consumer Month, a few simple habits can go a long way toward protecting your personal and financial information:

🔹 Pause before clicking unexpected links
🔹 Verify messages that create a sense of urgency
🔹 Use strong passwords and multi-factor authentication
🔹 Trust your instincts when something doesn't feel right

Protecting yourself from fraud isn't about being perfect. It's about having the knowledge and confidence to make informed decisions and knowing where to turn when you need support.

We're committed to helping Sailors, Marines, and their families build financial confidence, reduce stress, and strengthen their financial well-being through every stage of military life.

Because when you feel secure in your finances, you can focus on what matters most—your family, your mission, and your future.
