I am John Young, owner and principal agent of Serra Benefits & Insurance Services. Serra Benefits was founded in 1997 by my mother, Marlyn Ortiz, who became an insurance agent in 1978. I was a journeyman carpenter with a strong desire to help people, and after injuring my shoulder I decided to change careers and join my mother in the insurance industry. Together we opened an office in Dana Point,
CA and I began Serra Benefits. Later we moved the office to San Clemente, CA where we continued to grow for over ten years. In 2010 I moved the office to Oceanside, CA to be closer to my family. Marlyn is now retired and my wife Angela and I are the driving force of Serra Benefits today. My philosophy is that "Customer Service" would always come first. My clients appreciate our friendly and informative approach and desire to help them. Our goal is to find the best plans and the best rates to meet the health requirements and lifestyle of our clients, while maintaining ethical practices and personalized service. I enjoy spending time with our kids. Whether it's surfing locally in Oceanside or fishing, my family and I are blessed with good health and the enjoyment of life in North County San Diego.
