I recently worked with a 72-year-old man who wasn’t comfortable with a 10-year term life policy. He felt he could outlive the term and didn’t want his premiums to simply disappear.

We found an Indexed Universal Life policy with a lower death benefit and lower monthly premium. Unlike term insurance, the IUL can potentially build cash value. Based on the current illustration, if he surrenders the policy after 20 years, the projected surrender value could be about 80% of the original death benefit.

It gave him affordable protection, peace of mind, and the potential for meaningful value later in life. Values are projected and not guaranteed.
