The 's Open Market Committee met on July 29, 2026, and left its benchmark overnight unchanged for the 5th consecutive meeting. However, 3 of the 12 voting members dissented, favoring a 0.25% rate increase due to ongoing concerns.

The Fed remains confident in the , supported by 2Q2026 growth of 1.5% (annualized), continued , and business investment. Meanwhile, inflation, as measured by the , rose 3.7% y-o-y, or 3.3% excluding food and energy—both still well above the Fed's 2.0% target.

As a result, we expect the Fed to keep rates unchanged at its September 16, 2026, meeting, though a rate increase later this year remains possible if inflation stays elevated.
