Our 2026 Calendar, titled “Community History Lives Here,” celebrates 250 years of the unique history and culture found right here in our own communities.

Our September image, pulled from Dime Bank's archives, features an image of our Broadway branch on the first day of business. Dime Bank opened its doors for business on September 27, 1869, housed in what was then a Probate Court building on Main Street in Norwich, Connecticut. Following decades of growth and community partnership, Dime then relocated to its landmark Broadway branch on August 17, 1927, pictured here.

From humble beginnings 156 years ago to today's 14 branches, Dime's vision for the future remains the same - to be a strong, mutual financial institution providing high quality, personalized service to our customers and community.

We are deeply saddened by the passing of Sultan “Sully” Ahamed, MD FACS MBA, a distinguished surgeon, dedicated community leader, and respected Corporator of Dime Bank for over 30 years. His lifelong commitment to excellence and service strengthened both the medical profession and our region. We extend our heartfelt condolences to the entire Ahamed family as we honor a legacy that will continue to inspire.

Last weekend, Dime Bank was honored to sponsor the CT River Valley Chamber and Marlborough Day this past Sunday at Blish Park. Undeterred by the rain, families enjoyed a day of fun, entertainment, supporting local businesses, food trucks, and the pie-eating contest! As the sun came out, our team enjoyed passing out sunglasses and sharing about what sets community banking apart.

Last week, the Dime Bank Foundation presented a check in the amount of $5,000 to the Midwest Food Bank New England. Grant funds will support their Fueling Free Food project which rescues food that would otherwise be discarded from producers, and distributed to people in need through community partners. In 2025, they distributed over 12 million pounds of free food and resources through 166 partner agencies throughout the region who in turn, serve their communities.

Midwest Food Bank NE began distributing food to CT residents in 2021. They operate with four staff members and over 2,200 volunteers. As a result, 99% of every dollar goes directly to serving those in need. To learn more, visit their website at https://midwestfoodbank.org/
