It’s Fun Fact Friday! This is wild! 25 years ago today, Steve Jobs unveiled the iPod to the world! Apple sold an estimated 450 million iPods before discontinuing them in 2022 due to technological advancements. When it was first released, the iPod was described as a “Mac-compatible product with a 5 GB hard drive that can put 1,000 songs in your pocket.”

Viking FUNds is an NSB-initiated program that funds enjoyable, educational, and enlightening field trips for Oxford Hills School District MSAD #17 students in Norway, Oxford, West Paris, South Paris, Otisfield, Harrison, Hebron, and Waterford. In October, NSB contributed another $10,000 to Viking FUNds, bringing the total donations to $20,000 in 2026! Members of NSB’s Greater Portland team headed to Maine Needs recently for an evening of volunteering, an activity the bank encourages team members to do at local nonprofits that are special to them. NSB even provides team members with eight hours of paid volunteer time each year! Maine Needs is dedicated to helping individuals and families in Maine who are facing financial hardship, homelessness, or other issues, meeting their basic material needs by providing donated clothing, hygiene products, household goods, and more. As part of our nation’s 250th Anniversary, the Maine Historical Society has been stewarding one of 26 surviving copies of the Dunlap Broadside of the Declaration of Independence throughout Maine’s 16 counties. The copy was printed in Philadelphia on July 4, 1776, and sent to the Colonies to announce American independence. Norway Savings Bank is happy to serve as a sponsor of the tour, which made a stop at Norway Memorial Library on October 9-10!
