Open Enrollment for 2019 ACA qualified health insurance is less than a month away! Some of you may be receiving robocalls that Open Enrollment is now. THIS IS NOT TRUE. Open Enrollment begins on November 1st, 2018 and, in Colorado, will close on January 15th, 2019. 2019 ACA qualified plans and rates will be available to view at www.connectforhealthco.com on Tuesday, October 16th, however enrollments cannot be submitted until November 1st.

We have seen Facebook posts going around about this year's Affordable Care Act Open Enrollment Period (OEP). It is true that in many states the OEP is November 1 through December 15. HOWEVER, if you are a resident of Colorado, our OEP is November 1 through January 12. Although this is 18 days shorter than last year, it is almost a month longer than most other states. Again, the absolute latest you can purchase Affordable Care Act qualified health insurance for 2018 is 01/12/2018 (unless you become eligible for a special enrollment period due to a qualified life change event). If you want / need a 01/01/2018 effective date of coverage, then your deadline to enroll in a plan is 12/15/2017. We look forward to assisting you with your 2018 health insurance needs!

If you are looking at receiving a tax credit and/or cost sharing reductions to your health insurance through the marketplace please note that it is taking upwards of 4-6 weeks for some people to receive their declination # from PEAK (CO Medicaid). Originally, for an effective date of January 1, 2014, individuals needed to sign up for a plan by December 15, 2013, but that date has been pushed back to December 23. You must be declined from Medicaid before you can apply for health insurance in the marketplace. Give us a call today, and we can help walk you through the process! 303.466.5500

People will have eight more days, until Dec. 23, to sign up for health insurance coverage taking effect on the first day of 2014.

This way the early glitches in the system can get worked out, and all the plans from every carrier offering plans inside the Marketplace will be available to view. To "window shop" the plans currently available, and to find out if you will be eligible for a subsidy to lower your premium costs, visit the link below, enter your zip code, select "Check Eligibility for Benefits", and click "Do I Qualify?":

THE CO HEALTH INSURANCE MARKETPLACE IS OFFICIALLY LAUNCHED TODAY. As a Licensed and independent health and life insurance agent, as well as trained and Certified through the Marketplace, I am here to help with whatever questions you may have regarding these very big changes! I am also here to help you, your family, or your employees find the best plan options available both inside and outside of the Marketplace. Important dates to note:

- October 1 (today): CO Marketplace opens
- January 1, 2014: Coverage begins with whichever plan you choose inside of the Marketplace
- December 15, 2013: For that January 1 effective date you will need to choose a plan by December 15
- March 31, 2014: Last day to apply for health insurance (without a "Qualifying Condition") - with a May 1 effective date - until "Open Enrollment" again in October 2014.
- "Guides," who work with Connect for Health, can only show you your options. They can not explain why one plan may be a better choice than another, so a personal independent broker is even more important today than ever before!
