Had a great morning getting to tour different farming operations in neighboring counties. We started at David Tucker’s Christmas Tree farm and ended at Cheek Farmstead Creamery.
Learned a lot of both industries:
1.) NC Christmas trees are shipped all over the world.
2.) Typically takes around 12 years to get a tree to market
3.) Disease and pests are a huge problem
4.) Learned about the pasteurization process
5.) How some dairies have diversified into Milk & Ice-cream to keep the farm around
