With hurricane season winding down, many are asking themselves, “Will we be prepared to weather another storm?” & "What does Manufactured Home hurricane insurance really cover in Florida?" If you are uncertain PMMH Insurance is here to look at your existing insurance policy to make sure you have the right coverage and answer any questions you have.
Did you know when there is named storm for hurricanes and tropical storms that you can’t purchase coverage once a storm is named? Also, as soon as it’s safe, it is the homeowner’s responsibility to take steps to mitigate further damage: place tarps on roofs, boards over windows, etc., or your insurance company may not pay all of the claim.
Hurricane season runs from June 1st through November 30th. Planning for storms an outages will help protect yourself and property. Make sure you understand how much coverage you have and what your deductibles are. Many people I have spoken to moving to Florida did not know that is an extra hurricane deductible in their policy they must account for.
The higher the deductible, the lower the premium, and vice versa. For example, a policy with a high deductible will have lower annual payments, but you will pay a lot up front in the event of any hurricane damage. On the contrary, a policy with a low deductible may result in higher annual payments, but your out-of-pocket expense when a storm hits will be much lower.
Give PMMH a call and let us answer any questions you may have and help protect your investment you worked so hard to have.
