This is the reality for a lot of business owners..

Income tracked in a POS system
Expenses in a fancy spreadsheet
Loans, lines of credit, and credit cards scattered all over the place

And here’s why that’s a problem:

1️⃣ You’re technically profitable (killing it, actually), but can’t figure out why there’s never cash in the bank

2️⃣ Income is telling one story, expenses are telling another, and total debt is a mystery waiting to be solved

3️⃣ Taxes aren’t being tracked properly — you risk understating or overstating your return and missing deductions

Hi, I’m Allison 👋 the face behind AAJ Bookkeeping.

I’m a bookkeeper based in Miramichi, NB, and I work with small business owners across Atlantic Canada and beyond.

Clear communication and a judgement free approach are at the heart of everything I do here! I believe you should never feel left in the dark when it comes to your finances.

Bookkeeping to me is like a puzzle waiting to be solved. I’m a perfectionist (in and out of work) and turning chaos into clarity is kind of my thing 😉 but what I love most about what I do is getting to know my clients & their unique businesses!

Three ways to go digital with your receipts, using just your phone. No computer, scanner or filing system needed!

1️⃣ Google Drive:
I love this option for new business owners who are using a spreadsheet to do their bookkeeping. You can snap photos of your receipts and upload them directly into organized folders in your Drive.

2️⃣ QuickBooks:
For business owners who are moving away from spreadsheets and into QuickBooks. This can work well if you’re not dealing with a ton of receipts each month. It’s not the best at reading receipt data and the camera can be a bit finicky, but it works and is something I still recommend to some clients.

3️⃣ Dext:
My favourite option! Dext goes beyond basic receipt management. It’s a great tool if you have a lot of receipts and want more automation. What I love most is how accurately it extracts the data from the receipts (date, supplier, tax amounts, etc.), it connects to QuickBooks, and you can easily search through your receipts using the search bar.
