Sometimes there's some confusion as to who the customer is with a bail bond. Generally speaking, it's the person who signs as the co-signer since that person is the first to assume responsibility for the bond. It's not necessarily the person who calls, or the person who pays the premium, or even the person in jail. If the bail bond is forfeited because the defendant failed to appear in court, it's the co-signer who is financially responsible to the bail bond company.

If you call a bail bondsman about a bail bond, and you're not going to be the co-signer, the bondsman may be reluctant to go into details with you about the bond terms, the fee to be charged, or even if they'll write the bond because so much of that is dependent on the co-signer. Don't be surprised if the co-signer is unavailable, the bondsman may only give you general information until they can speak with the actual co-signer.

Additionally, arraignments for anyone released from jail on bond after March 14th have been put off until the Wednesday or Thursday between May 1st and May 15th.

NORMAN — Cleveland County judges postponed criminal and civil trials scheduled for April while also limiting public access to ongoing legal procedures due to concerns from the COVID-19 virus.
