⚠️ NORMAN REGIONAL INSURANCE UPDATE ⚠️
There have been some important insurance network changes involving Norman Regional Health System and Aetna, with another change involving UnitedHealthcare coming October 1.
Here’s a simple breakdown of who is affected:
🟣 AETNA — Effective August 1, 2026 (Already in affect)
❌ Aetna Medicare Advantage
❌ Aetna commercial/employer plans
✅ Aetna Medicare Supplement (Medigap) — NOT affected
✅ Aetna SoonerSelect Medicaid — NOT affected
🔵 UNITEDHEALTHCARE — Effective October 1, 2026
❌ UHC Medicare Advantage
❌ UHC D-SNP Medicare Advantage
❌ UHC commercial/employer plans
✅ UHC Medicare Supplement (Medigap) — NOT affected
🚨 WHAT ABOUT EMERGENCIES?
Medicare Advantage members can still receive covered emergency services at Norman Regional, even when Norman Regional is outside their plan's network.
For non-emergency care, such as routine appointments, scheduled procedures and surgeries, Norman Regional will be out of network. Depending on your specific Medicare Advantage plan, these services may not be covered or may result in higher out-of-network costs.
💡 WHAT ABOUT MEDICARE SUPPLEMENTS?
Medicare Supplement plans work differently from Medicare Advantage. If you have Original Medicare with a Medicare Supplement, these network contract changes generally do not affect where you can receive Medicare-covered care.
If you or a family member uses Norman Regional and you're unsure whether your Medicare plan is affected, feel free to reach out. I’d be happy to help you figure out what type of coverage you have and what these changes mean for you.
