Today is the day! Today is the extension deadline day for personal tax returns and C-Corporations!

If you have not already signed, keep an eye on your e-mail, and be on the lookout for calls from our team. We are working diligently finishing everything up, and filing your tax returns.

If you owe, don’t forget to also make those payments to the IRS and the OTC – you may mail them yourself, or our office can mail them for you.

Our team may be reaching out in the coming days requesting information from you, or to let you know that your return is ready to be picked up and signed, or signed online; keep an eye out for phone calls, voice mails, and incoming e-mails.

Keep an eye out for an e-mail, phone call, or voicemail from our office – we may be requesting information, or we may be letting you know that the tax return is ready to be picked up and signed for.

The final Dirty Dozen of the year, #12: Misleading Offer in Compromise marketing – or, “OIC Mills”

An Offer in Compromise (OIC) is an agreement between a taxpayer and the IRS that settles a tax debt owed for less than the full amount; the goal is to reach a compromise that is in the best interest of both the taxpayer and the agency.

OIC mills will promote offers in compromise in misleading ways to taxpayers that do not meet qualifications. This costs taxpayers upwards of thousands of dollars. These mills will charge exorbitant fees, and they claim they can settle the tax debt for pennies on the dollar. Additionally, not all taxpayers qualify for an Offer in Compromise.

The IRS encourages taxpayers to check their eligibility using free tools available on their website, and to avoid high pressure sales tactics. Always remember – if it sounds too good to be true, it probably is!

Don’t forget – mail those estimated checks, and sign your completed returns, today is the due date!

You may mail your estimated checks yourself, or bring them filled out to our office and we can mail them for you.

On top of 3rd quarter estimated payments being due, Tuesday, September 15th, is the due date for extended Partnership and S-Corporation tax returns.

Check your e-mails and your call logs – when your return is complete, our admin staff will contact you and let you know that it is ready for signature!
