Growth is happening at the Carrie Lewis Farmers Insurance Agency, and I couldn’t be more excited.

I’m proud to share that Sarah and Alexandra have joined our team.

Sarah will be focused on helping clients with their commercial and business insurance needs, providing support to business owners looking to protect everything they’ve worked so hard to build.

Alexandra brings 9 years of personal lines insurance experience and is passionate about helping individuals and families with their auto, home, renters, landlord, umbrella, and life insurance needs.

As our agency continues to grow, we are also hiring a Customer Service Representative.

This position offers hourly pay plus bonus opportunities, paid holidays, flexible hours, and support to obtain an insurance license. There is also a clear path for advancement, including the opportunity to grow into an Office Manager role.

My very first job was being the “Putt-Putt girl” some of you may remember! I started working at 15 years and 8 months old, and I haven’t stopped since. Looking back, I learned so many valuable life lessons from my first boss, Cyndi Carlson, and many of those lessons have stayed with me throughout my career.

At 23 years old, I ventured into insurance as a single mom just looking for a “job.” Little did I know, it would become my life’s work and a career I truly love.

A career in insurance is so much more than most people expect. It’s an industry where you can build stability, create meaningful relationships, earn a strong income, and make a real impact in your community all while helping people protect what matters most.

We are also not your typical insurance office. We are a boutique insurance agency offering concierge level customer service without fancy, complicated pricing. Grateful is the word that keeps coming to mind.

We had the opportunity to host Chief Strategy & Risk Officer, John Pham, at our local Farmers Insurance agency, and I’m still reflecting on the impact of that visit. Being around someone who leads with such purpose leaves a positive, lasting impression.

What stood out most was how present he was. John didn’t just come in to observe; he came ready to listen, connect, and share real insights. The ideas he left us with are practical and thoughtful, and we’re excited to put them into action. Our agency recently celebrated our 5-year anniversary, and we look forward to continuing our growth with the support of my amazing team, our Virginia Farmers Insurance District 61 team led by Richard Martin, and now, with John. I am confident he will facilitate positive growth changes that will benefit our company.

A lot of people don’t realize that standard home, renters, and condo policies have special limits on high value items. That means in the event of a loss or even something like mysterious disappearance, you may not be fully covered.

If you own jewelry, furs, musical instruments, fi****ms, or art, it’s worth having a conversation. We can either schedule those items separately or build the right protection into your policy so you know they’re properly covered.

One of the most important (and most overlooked) things you can do as a condo owner is **attend your association meetings** and ask good questions about your master policy.

Why? Because what the HOA covers—and what it *doesn’t*—directly impacts YOU.

🧠 **Knowledge is protection**
Don’t assume you’re fully covered. Ask:

* Is this an “all-in” or “studs-in” policy?
* What are the deductibles?
* Are there any coverage gaps owners are responsible for?

🏢 **It’s NOT just renters insurance**
Condo insurance is often compared to renters insurance—but that’s not accurate. As a condo owner, you have ownership responsibility. In many cases, you’re responsible for everything **from the studs inward**—including walls, flooring, cabinets, and more.

💰 **Gaps can be costly**
If there’s a claim and your coverage doesn’t align with the HOA policy, you could be paying out of pocket.

🛡️ **Most important HO6 coverages to understand:**

* **Dwelling (Interior Coverage):** Protects everything from the studs inward

Some clients truly become like family and the Mano family is one of them 💙

It has been such a joy to see their family blossom over the years and to be there to help protect what matters most along the way.

Their daughter, pictured here, was recently involved in a serious car accident. It was a scary situation, but this is where having the right coverage really makes a difference. Farmers stepped in quickly, took care of the claim, and helped make a hard moment a little easier.

Today, they were able to purchase a brand new vehicle with a strong down payment and keep moving forward. They brought it by the office - what a beauty!
