The Blended Family

Families come together in all kinds of ways these days, and I love that. Here's one thing worth handling when yours does.

In a blended family, with kids from different marriages, stepkids you love as your own, an ex still in the picture, your insurance and beneficiaries need real attention. Old policies might still name an ex spouse. Some kids might get left out by accident. What you assume will happen and what the paperwork actually says can be two very different things, and it surfaces at the worst possible moment.

Nobody means to leave a child out or send money to the wrong person. It happens because life got complicated and the forms never caught up.

If you've got a blended family, let's sit down and make sure everything and everyone is set up the way you actually intend. It's a caring, responsible thing to get right. Message me and we'll keep it simple.

Hiring Your First Employee

There's a milestone in a small business that doesn't get enough credit. The day you hire your first employee.

It means you built something big enough to need help. That's huge, and you should be proud. It also means a few new responsibilities just landed on your plate, and handling them right protects both you and the person putting their trust in you by coming to work for you.

Workers comp. Making sure your coverage reflects having employees now. Thinking about the protections that keep a good hire from turning into a hard lesson. None of it is complicated with the right person walking you through it.

If you're about to make your first hire, or you just did, congratulations on the growth. Let's make sure you're set up to do it right. Fifteen minutes and you'll have it handled. Message me.

Someone Gets Hurt on Your Place

For the farm and acreage folks, here's a risk that lives right under your feet.

People come onto your property all the time. Delivery drivers, the propane guy, neighbors, kids, hired help, the salesman who didn't call first. If someone gets hurt on your place, you can end up responsible for it, and on a working farm there are more ways for that to happen than on a normal lot. Equipment, livestock, ponds, outbuildings, uneven ground.

This is exactly what your farm liability coverage is for, and it's the piece worth making sure is actually strong, because a serious injury claim can reach further than people expect.

If you own land or run an operation, let's make sure your liability coverage matches the real risks of your place. It's the kind of thing you don't think about until you need it. Message me and we'll go over it.

The Job Nobody Puts a Price On

Here's a conversation that catches families off guard, and it matters more than almost any other.

If one parent stays home, there's a quiet assumption that only the working spouse needs life insurance. But think about everything the stay at home parent actually does. Childcare, running the household, all the work that would cost a fortune to replace if that person were suddenly gone. The grief would be unbearable enough. The financial hole underneath it would be very real too.

Insuring a stay at home parent isn't cold or unromantic. It's recognizing that what they do has enormous value, and making sure the family could afford the help they'd suddenly need.

If your family has a parent at home, let's make sure they're protected too. It's more affordable than most people expect, and it's one of the most caring things you can set up. Message me.

When Your Customer Asks for Proof

Quick one for the small business owners and contractors.

Ever had a customer, a job site, or a bigger company say "we need a certificate of insurance before you can start"? If you've been in business a while you know that feeling, and if you're new you're about to hit it. That piece of paper proving you're covered is often the thing standing between you and the job.

Here's the good news. When you've got an agent who actually answers the phone, the process is a whole lot smoother than dealing with a call center. Some certificates are simple, and some come with specific requirements that take a little more work to get exactly right, but either way you've got a real person on it instead of a ticket in a queue.

The smartest move is to get ahead of it. If you know a job is coming that'll require proof of coverage, reach out early so there's time to get it done right and not scramble at the last minute. If you bid work that requires certificates, let's make sure you're set up so it's one less thing to worry about. Message me.

A Good Day at Work

Not every day in this business is heavy. Some days are just good, and I want to share one of those.

This week I got to tell a family that their claim was being handled, the check would be on the way soon, and because of a conversation about their roof year was able to save them money. I watched the worry drain right out of their faces. That's the whole reason this job exists. Not the policies or the paperwork. That moment right there.

When you do insurance the right way, with real people who actually care, this is what it looks like on the other end. Coverage put in place when things were fine, and there when things weren't.

That's what we're here for. If that's the kind of agent you want in your corner when it counts, my door's always open. Come see what doing this the right way feels like.

What Your Membership Actually Gets You

Here's something a lot of our own clients don't fully realize. Being part of Farm Bureau is more than just your insurance.

Membership comes with a whole range of benefits and perks that plenty of folks never use simply because nobody walked them through it. Discounts, resources, and advantages that come with being part of this organization, on top of the coverage itself. It's real value that's easy to leave sitting on the table.

I'd rather my clients actually use what they're already paying for than miss out because it never got explained.

If you're a member and you've never had someone show you everything your membership includes, stop in or message me and I'll walk you through it. And if you're not a member yet and you're curious what it's all about, I'm glad to explain that too. No pressure, just information.

The One in the Garage

Some cars aren't transportation. They're a labor of love.

The classic under the cover in the garage. The project that took years of weekends. The truck that belonged to your dad and you'll never sell. If you've got a vehicle like that, here's something worth knowing. Insuring it like a regular daily driver often doesn't do it justice, and could leave you shortchanged if something ever happened to it.

Collector and classic vehicles can be covered in a way that actually reflects what they're worth to you, and often for less than people expect since they're not daily drivers.

If there's a special one in your garage, let's make sure it's protected like the treasure it is. And feel free to drop a picture of it in the comments, because I will absolutely stop and admire it. Message me.
