Did you know that Milton is home to over 200 active horse farms?

While it’s common to spot a horse when driving around the city, no one had taken a step back – and done the hard work – to determine just how many active horse farms are in Milton, or where they are. The Milton Equestrian Committee took on this challenge last year, trying to get a better understanding of the prevalence of such farms and, with that, the vibrancy of the local equestrian community.

Members researched and pored through extensive publicly available information, expecting to find maybe 100 or so horse farms. Ultimately, they discovered more than double that number – as noted in the first sentence of this post – of properties that are homes to horses. And that figure doesn’t include a handful of parcels with other animals or larger lots that are set up to have horses at any given moment.

The map shown here reflects what the committee found. Each circle roughly represents an active equestrian farm or a farm that could soon be an active equestrian farm. The exact location of each farm is less significant than the scope. As you can see, the circles can be found throughout Milton. And there are a lot of them.
