As we continue counting down to 6 years in business on June 19th, here’s another lesson that took me some time to learn.

Business Gem #2: Everybody Can’t Go With You

One of the hardest lessons in business is realizing that some people are only meant for a season.

As your business grows, your vision will grow. Your goals will grow. Your standards will grow. Unfortunately, not everyone who started the journey with you will be willing or able to grow with you.

Sometimes people leave. Sometimes relationships change. Sometimes you have to make difficult decisions for the good of the business.

And that’s okay.

Don’t let guilt keep you tied to people, habits, or situations that no longer align with where you’re trying to go. Appreciate the role they played in your journey, but understand that every chapter doesn’t have the same cast of characters.

Growth often requires change, and change isn’t always comfortable.

The goal isn’t to take everyone with you. The goal is to keep moving forward.

One day I played a game with my team and asked them to guess which one of the services we offer is my absolute favorite. Of course, majority of them said tax preparation 😂 and don’t get me wrong, I love tax prep… but honestly, I enjoy credit repair the most.

Here’s why. There’s something rewarding about working with a client who’s truly trying to achieve a goal, building a good working relationship with them, and being able to sit back and see where they started versus where they are now. To know you played a part in helping someone position themselves to purchase a home, get approved for a car, or simply get their finances back on track hits different. 💯

This morning one of the first things I worked on when I came into the office was drafting letters for a client that are getting ready to be sent out today. Moments like that remind me why I enjoy what I do.
