A few months ago I got laid off.

I remember sitting there thinking about my kids and feeling this weight I hadn't felt before. Everything I had worked for was tied to someone else's decision. Someone else's company. Someone else's bottom line.

That scared me more than the layoff itself.

I started thinking about what I actually wanted for my children. What kind of example I wanted to set. Whether I was ever going to feel like their future was truly secure or whether I'd spend the rest of my life hoping nothing went wrong.

I decided I was done hoping.

I took everything I already knew, everything I had already built, and I started my own agency. Work I believe in, on my own terms, for my own reasons. It wasn't the path I planned but honestly it's the one I would have chosen if I'd been brave enough sooner.

My kids are going to grow up watching their mom build something from the ground up. That means everything to me.
