The students who finish flight training almost always started with a plan.

Not just a school picked and a lesson booked. A real plan, built before lesson one, that maps the full cost, keeps training consistent, and accounts for how it's all getting funded.

Most of the common setbacks in flight training are predictable. The right preparation makes them manageable.

The aviation industry grows stronger when schools grow together. ✈️

Flight schools may compete for students, but collaboration often creates opportunities that benefit everyone, from sharing best practices to strengthening training standards and student outcomes.

When schools, instructors, and industry partners come together, they help move the entire flight training community forward.

Our latest blog explores why collaboration may be one of the most valuable investments a flight school can make.

As we look ahead to the Ascend Flight Training Summit this September, we're excited to continue the conversations around education, innovation, and industry collaboration that help strengthen aviation for everyone.

Flight training costs $90K to $120K. It's a real commitment, and it deserves a hard look.

The earning side of that equation matters just as much. The median U.S. airline pilot salary is $226,600 a year. At that income, you earn back the full cost of training before your second year in the cockpit.

It's not a small investment. But for the people who see it through, the financial return is real, and it comes sooner than most expect.

Three years in, and the mission hasn't changed.

We believe the cost of flight training shouldn't be the reason a qualified student walks away. So every year, we give one student pilot $10,000 to put toward their training, paid directly to their flight school.

That's the Scholarship, and applications for Year 3 are open now.

If you're enrolled in flight school, at least 17, and a U.S. or Puerto Rico resident with 25+ logged hours, you're eligible.

Submit your application before August 28, 2026, at 11:59 PM PT.

At the airlines, seniority runs everything.

It touches your schedule, your base city, the aircraft you fly, and how long it takes to move across the seniority ladder. Junior pilots take what's left after senior crews have bid. That can mean commuting across the country, working the holidays, and waiting longer than expected for an upgrade.

Airlines hire strictly by date. Every pilot who joins before you hold that priority for the rest of your careers at that airline.

The earlier you start building toward that pipeline, the better your position when it matters.

Weather delays are frustrating, but they don't have to derail your progress. ☁️✈️

Every student pilot experiences canceled lessons, shifting schedules, and the frustration of waiting for conditions to improve. While you can't control the weather, you can control how you respond to it.

Staying flexible, maintaining perspective, and continuing to prepare between flights can help you stay confident and committed throughout your training journey.

Our latest blog shares more practical ways student pilots can navigate weather delays without losing momentum.

Most people don't realize how much pilot pay has shifted.

Here's what the averages actually look like across 12 major U.S. airlines in 2026:

First Officer Year 1: $109,065/yr
First Officer Year 6: $229,582/yr
Captain Year 10: $323,534/yr
Captain max scale: $374,414/yr

Every pilot at the top of that scale started at the bottom of it.

The career pays well. It just takes time to build. And in aviation, every year you delay is a year you don't get back on the seniority list.

The pilots who started training five years ago are the ones moving into those upper brackets now.

According to aviation analyst Kit Darby, major U.S. airlines are forecasting 7,672 pilot openings in 2026.

United alone is projecting 2,500 hires. American, 2,000. Delta, 1,500. Southwest, 872.

These aren't open positions you can apply to tomorrow. Airline hiring pipelines run on years of training, certifications, and hour-building. The pilots filling those seats are already deep in that process.

If you've been thinking about starting flight training, the demand is real and it's documented.
