Did you know… according to ODOT’s Crash Analysis & Reporting Unit, there were 46,762 reportable crashes in Oregon in 2023. Do you know what to do if you are involved in a crash?

1. Safety First! Be aware of your and others safety at the crash scene. Make sure to report all injuries to 911 immediately.
2. Stay Calm. Notify the police and file an accident report. Focus on documenting the accident including pictures.
3. Don’t admit responsibility. An investigation may prove that you were not at fault.
4. Collect and exchange information. Make sure to get the name, address, phone numbers of all drivers and passengers involved. Document the make, model and license plate of all of the vehicles involved in the crash.

Before the next rain storm hits, check these things around your house 🏠

1. Water pooling near the foundation
•Walk the perimeter while it’s raining.
•Look for puddles that sit against the house.
•Soil should slope away from the foundation.

2. Overflowing gutters
•Water spilling over the sides = clogged gutters.
•Check that downspouts aren’t backing up.
•Make sure water exits at least 5–10 feet away.

3. Roof runoff patterns
•Is water cascading in sheets instead of flowing into gutters?
•Watch for moss buildup (very common in PNW).
•Check for loose shingles after wind + rain combo.

4. Crawl space or basement vents
•Make sure water isn’t flowing directly into vents.
•Check for mud splashing up onto siding.

5. Siding & exterior walls
•Look for dark, wet patches that stay damp long after rain stops.
•Check around windows for failed caulking.

6. Driveway & yard drainage
•Water should move toward the street, not toward your house.
•Watch for new low spots forming.

7. Exterior spigots
•Ensure they aren’t dripping.
•Check that hose bibs aren’t leaking at the siding.
