Wanna read a crazy story?
Check this out - I was speaking to a lady today about her boyfriend who is currently locked up.
some background - around 12 years ago, this guy committed a string of residential burglaries. One of the homes happened to be where a judge lived. after he was arrested, that same judge ended up presiding over the proceedings.
The defendant complained that he was worried about the judge's ability to remain impartial since the judge was a victim of his crimes. He filed to get a new judge, got denied, and that judge sent him to prison.
fast forward to this week. since getting out of prison years ago, our guy has stayed pretty under the radar. he's currently in jail due to one of the clearest cases of entrapment I have ever seen.
He got arrested through a police sting where a new acquaintance of his goaded him into going out of his way to pick up drugs before meeting to hang out. that person ended up being an undercover cop.
so now our guy is in jail, but he can't get out because he has a *1275 hold* which is when a criminal defendant has to prove that any money being used for bail has not been illegally obtained. he wouldn't be in this position if it wasn't for a cop telling him to go out of his way to score illegal drugs in the first place. 🤯🤬
not done yet though. now because of the 1275 hold, the police have what they need for probable cause. CUE THE RAID!
the defendant lives with his elderly war veteran Doomsday prepper Dad who has a healthy enthusiasm for fi****ms. the cops raid the house and (surprise, surprise) find guns in the house. but get this- the guns are secured in a proper safe the defendant cannot access.
according to his girlfriend, the cops had to drag the safe out of the garage and break into it before discovering fi****ms" at the premises and adding charges for possession of fi****ms and high capacity magazines.
none of this would be the case if the cops didn't push this guy to go out of his way in the first place. Unbelievable. this is why I no longer call it the justice system.
